Meet Scott Poore - The Man Behind the Mission

It all began with a dream.

Scott left corporate America to spend his days helping long-term shelter pets find loving homes.

In 2016, Scott left corporate America and started Mission Driven Goods - a pet-themed apparel company that funds his animal rescue work.

Since then, he has helped over 1200 long-term shelter pets find loving homes and raised more than $1 million for animal shelters, rescues, and outreach groups. His unique ideas for promoting homeless pets and shelter campaigns have captured the hearts of animal lovers all over the Midwest.

But Scott's dream didn't end there.

Scott has been going rural for the past few summers with his "Rural Animal Shelter Tour." Each month he would visit two to four rural animal shelters and promote them via social media. Each rural shelter visit was unique, and not each shelter received the same kind of support.

For example, some rural animal shelters needed beds; other shelters required food, and some needed help fixing or updating their facility. Whatever the need was, Scott went above and beyond in his promotion to help them get it.

Through video and images, he captured the rural animal shelter's story. And every single time, the community heard these stories and met the needs of those rural animal shelters.

"Thank you, Scott, for opening so many eyes to the struggles of rural rescue."

Scott Poore Goes Rural Tour- Visiting Rural Animal Shelters Throughout Missouri & Kansas

Highlights of 2021’s
Rural Animal Shelter Tour

In the summer of 2021, Scott drove over 1000 miles to visit 11 rural animal shelters throughout Missouri and Kansas. The impact was life-changing.

  • Scott helped raise over $25,000 in donations to the shelters- which helped one shelter build an outdoor play area for their dogs

  • Scott helped set up and promote 10 Amazon wishlists, which brought in hundreds (if not thousands) of boxes and resources to the shelters.

  • Scott helped promote 13 long-term shelter pets that were not getting the exposure they needed to get adopted.

No gift is too small.

One need, one post, can lead to life-changing donations for rural animal shelters. In March 2022, Clinton Animal Shelter in Missouri ran out of food, but the shelter was at capacity for homeless dogs and cats.

Scott heard bout their lack of food and made a quick plea to the Mission Driven social media community. He added a link to their Amazon Wishlist to the post. He figured the community would get some donations that would take them through summer.

It never occurred to him that they would receive pallets upon pallets of food deliveries. That one post reached 75,000+ people and had over 780 shares. Not to mention two new channels picked it up.

In five days, one rural animal shelter went from having no food to having enough food a year and extra to donate to other rural animal shelters in need.

Donations like this are what "stronger together" means.

The results seen from the Rural Animal Shelter Tours Scott has done positively impact their communities.

These rural animal shelter visits are the inspiration for On A Mission KC. Through the community's support, Scott aims to renovate rural animal shelters from the inside out to attract more potential adopters and teach them sustainability practices so they never lack again.

“That's the thing people need to realize. Giving just a little can add up. It might seem like sending a bag or two of food or contributing $5 won't make a difference, but it truly does!”
